Carrie Stallings ’19

At our Denver Campaign event in February 2020, alum Carrie Stallings '19 shared with us a story she told at the 2019 commencement. To honor our 2021 commencement, we are proud to now share this story with you. Carrie came to Grinnell as a first-generation college student, and through her relationship with mentors, classmates, and faculty, she graduated Grinnell as an advocate for the underdog. Since arriving at Grinnell, President Anne F. Harris has immersed herself in our community, eager to understand what "Being a Grinnellian" really means. Learning about our College has uncovered a tradition of humanity and education of which we are proud, though it has also revealed opportunity for betterment.
